If you’re looking for a fun day out in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Vredenheim Animal Farm in Stellenbosch is sure to be a rewarding outing for kids and adults alike. This farm is home to a variety of animals ranging from cows to goats, rabbits and chickens. There is a great play park, fitted with a jungle gym, sandpit and bicycle track. Party spots are also offered for birthdays and other festivities. 5. Birds of Eden

A slice of paradise in the heart of the Garden Route, Birds of Eden lies in Plettenberg Bay. This one-of-a-kind two hectare dome contains a natural forest, with free-flying birds of many different species. In total, there are a staggering 3,500 birds found here, from over 220 species. Budding nature-lovers of all ages will be enchanted as they watch birds flying through this covered wonderland. The sanctuary is self-guided and guided tours are also offered for those wanting to learn more about the species of birds found here.
